Transformhk's Reboot: Mind, Body & Soul BLOG

Reveal Party Tomorrow

Reveal party is tomorrow and I’m feeling a bit nervous. I don’t normally get nervous but when someone says here is a party where you will reveal yourself that’s a bit nerve racking.

I’ve done a pretty good job the last week so guess I’m proud of myself. not eating carbs = really really hard but I think at the end of the day it’s actually very awesome for your weight and all of that.

See you guys tomorrow. Hope all is well.

The Last Stretch – Polly

Hi All,

Also very much looking forward to the ‘transformation’ coming to a close and cracking on with putting the valuable things I’ve learnt in to practice in my normal life.

Nutrition wise – diet is forever changed… awesome! I’ve got in to a much better routine meals wise, organising things for work the night before & eating the right foods. This is hard work though. So, to reward myself, cake and sweeties still feature 🙂 yey!

I recently gave up alcohol for a month and although, I’m sure, good for my body it was just bloody boring! So I won’t be doing that again! But I have cut down. Also good news for me 🙂

I’ll still be keeping up with the Bootcamps because they are basically brill and everyone should just quit the gym and do this instead!

Only two weeks to go – great 🙂

Last Stretch

13 days left. Time to get fit.

Charbel – nutritionist – has suggested an all raw food diet for uber results. That sounds absolutely terrible. I will be trying it starting Monday. I think this will be fun.

If I start to look like some sort of rabbit, shoot me. My nose already’s twitching.

Ok. Off to eat an eggplant.

I’ve returned to Hong Kong (yay!) after a longer-than-deisred haitus and back to the Transform HK thing of things. My goals, as outlined for y’all, for the last 16 days:

-No alcohol, not even one handle of vodka
-No carbos in the evening
-Balanced meals throughout the day
-Sleep 6-9 hours
-Continue with style, as shown to me by the excellent Sunee LaClaire, in my materials and books. It is really hard to be stylish if you are lazy and believe me, I am. I’m committed to looking good though. Goodbye weird colored tan t-shirt. Goodbye sweatpants to lounge around in.
-Work on projects I’ve come up with life coaching aficianado Ana Scherer.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

Holy Cow: A volcano

So I’m in London for work and I have no idea when I’ll get home. In case you’re using transformhk blog as your personal CNN, a volcano erupted in Iceland spreading volcanic ash and causing flights all over the world to be canceled. This was retaliation for the IMF charging a high interest rate for the money loaned the country.

Anyway, traveling = suicide to workout regimes, healthy eating, and general fitness, it seems, given free food and drinks. On the downside, I haven’t kept to the same discipline in HK, where I have bootcamp, a set regime, no room service, etc. On the upside, I’ve still been working out on my own and have dropped a half a kilo, which is a step in the right direction. Gotta keep taking those steps.

I’ll let you know if I ever get back to Hong Kong.

On holiday: Polly

Before I knew that I was going to be taking part in this ‘transformation’ I booked a holiday. The plan was quite clear – hit Thailand with my mate (Thelma and Louise styley – not quite sure which one of us would be which but I hoped I’d get to shag Brad Pitt) and get totally pissed whilst eating all the yummy Thai food in sight, cocktail in hand and laze on the beach. You feeling it?! We were.

Few weeks later, Transform HK and their Bootcamp mates pitch up and there’s all this talk of lunges and starjumps whilst on holiday! Let me not even bore you with the list (2 hour hike on holiday anyone?!) but it was extensive. Although I was pretty positive about doing exercise on holiday I think its important to be realistic.

So my holiday plans and location changed, and today is my last day in Thailand. I hit yoga most days and ate healthily – I drank so much water that I’m now considered to be a key part in the water cycle and kids will learn about me in science class. Salads and fruit were the name of the game and I’ve now given up alcohol for the rest of April.

All this change was surprisingly do-able and I’m not really that fussed about giving up alcohol. In fact I’m feeling really good! Its been hectic & difficult to prioritise my new schedule and find time in my life for regular gym sessions, food shopping/cooking and Bootcamps – but now i’m kind of settling in to the groove of it all. Before I went away I had to clear out my fridge for food that might go off, that’s the first time I’ve ever had to do that! (because there’s never any fresh food in there – not because I’m a lazy cow… although I expect those two go hand in hand)

Given an 8-week time limit for this TransformHK project I’m not sure how transformed I’ll actually be, perhaps not on the outside anyway, but lifestyle wise I’ve moved towards a healthier new me which I’m really happy and positive about… so many thanks to all at TransformHK. 🙂

Aloha! Or should I say ____. That blank space is for “hello” in Sri Lanka, which is where I am now, but the language is really really hard to pronounce soo I won’t look it up. Using google is just cheating.\

A few updates:
1) Boot camp has been fantastic. I’ve been doing the Monday/Wednesday with Samson (yes, his real name) in HK Park with a bunch of women who have continually smoked me in the exercises. I think I’m improving but let’s just say it’s not too moralizing to see a 45 year old woman do more sit ups than you. I think I’m pleasantly shaped now, meaning that I’ve a ways to go but I’m not going to embarass myself.
2) Speaking of that, I had a style consultation with Sunee where I learned a lot what things to wear including “don’t wear halter-top shirts” and “double-breasted suits are not in.” Whoops. I just thought it was traditional (insert sound of readers rolling eyes). Anyway, I have this nifty booklet that tells me all about what my frame and shape would look good in and it’s quite cool.
3) Here’s one thing that we haven’t mentioned: LIfe coaching. The service – in my opinion – is pretty awesome though the name is always tough. There’s a big fear that you’ll say something like “My life coach says” and then immediately be punched in the face by your guy friends.

However, Ana’s given me a good opportunity to brainstorm, think, and have the “me” time which is necessary to develop and come up towards figuring out what’s important and things I want to emphasize. It’s kind of like when your friend is having a problem with his gf/her bf and comes and talks to you for a long time about it and you just sit there and listen for a while and occasionally come up with some advice. Oh wait, there’s one other difference: this is actually useful where the other is what I think psychiatrists call emotional masturbation. I look forward to speaking more with Ana and reaching for the stars and all that.

4) Nutrition. This is actually as useful and important as exercise but doesn’t get too much press. Maybe this is because our nutritionist extraordinaire is in Lebanon (I think) or carrying out some sort of secret nutrition missions but we’ve been staying in email contact. Am I following his principles now that I’m on vacation? A: Not really. But am I thinking about nutrition and not being a complete pig? A: Yes. And I think that’s the important part. To think a little bit about what you’re eating, when you’re eating, why you’re eating, and to eat healthy, and well. I really hope I can continue this – despite all the banana puddings placed in front of me.

5) Hey Zoe (our marketing lady)? Can we retitle this blog “Polly’s blog with pictures of Polly”? Thanks. I feel like P. Diddy circa-2003: It’s guest appearance time.

Take care all.

The other day: Polly

After discussing all the lovely colours that suit me, warm and clear – fact, I met with Sunee (Immaginaire) who gave me a super handy booklet detailing all the clothes and accessories that suit my body type and shape. There are things in here that have never even entered my brain to even think about… such as bag placement. Who knew?!

If you see me with an over the shoulder bag feel free to take it off me and beat me with it, that’s whats been adding those extra pounds all these years darn it.

Day 14: Polly

When the TransformHK people decided that they would bestow this great honour (8 weeks of Bootcamp, healthy food, no drinking or eating anything yummy like cheese) on myself and Yalun they REALLY ought to have considered the rugby 7’s weekend in to the equation!!

I had been pretty good up until yesterday (aside from a small run in with a pizza, oops) but yesterday thinks went down hill quite rapidly….. (tut tut tut)

However, fear not its Sunday morning (9am fyi!) post rugby 7’s Saturday and I feel so naughty I’ve got my gym gear on and I’m on route to right my wrongs by sweating it out on the treadmill.

Water from now on…. promise!!!
